At Technology Access Foundation, we teach our students that if you start small and think big, you can achieve great things. That also describes the way we’ve grown as an organization.
When TAF started in 1996, our mission was to bring technology to underserved kids. Over the years, we expanded the scope of our work to ensure that all of our students graduate from high school college-ready for successful careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields. Today, our mission remains clear:
TAF prepares underserved children of color for higher education and professional success by providing a rigorous and relevant K-12 curriculum.
TAF is a nationally recognized leader in providing technical training to students of color. Our results speak for themselves:
100% of high school students in our Technical Teen Internship program (TTIP) graduated high school on-time
100% of our TTIP students enrolled in colleges like these
4 students earned Gates Millennium Scholarships & 1 student earned a Sullivan Award from Seattle University
Over 300 teens earned paid summer technical internships
In the 2008-09 school year, TAF has enrolled 300 TechStart students and 130 TAF Academy students. We are still thinking big, because there are still so many kids who need our help to achieve great things!
