As it turned out, after booting up the angstrom-2008.1 demo image from an SD card, I found that JamVM was already available for installation with the Package Manager in Enlightenment.

After installing JamVM and checking that I had access to the jamvm command from a terminal window, I went to the Eclipse Equinox OSGi Downloads page to download the Equinox OSGi R4 framework implementation to the /home/root/osgi directory.

Success!

The following command line:
jamvm -jar org.eclipse.osgi_3.4.0.v20080605-1900.jar -console
rendered the familiar osgi> prompt.

I was now ready to visit the OSGi Bundle Repository website to check for some basic bundles just to get started.

So, now I have OSGi running on the BeagleBoard. Next step will be to create a few bundles of my own with Eclipse.Ulfhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07268371907481089617noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1418055419860232559.post-84506708274631747002008-08-01T22:17:00.000+02:002008-08-01T22:21:19.953+02:002008-08-01T22:21:19.953+02:00OSGi on BeagleBoard, maybe?Earlier today I ordered the tiny BeagleBoard embedded system with the combined ARM Cortex A8 and a DSP. It seems that there is now Java support in the form of Jalimo which should make it possible to run OSGi on this cool embedded system.Ulfhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07268371907481089617noreply@blogger.com |
