The Official Tiger Homepage

"Tiger" being a TI92 emulator by Jonas MinnbergMarch 3rdNewsIf you haven't noticed already, Tiger has been ported to Macintosh byArthur Petry, and is availablehere.I have been pretty busy with other things lately, but I have beenworking a bit on Tiger v0.8 - which is a major restrucutring of thesourcecode to make it much easier to port. Maybe you'll finally seea Win32 port. The latest release (for Linux/X11) is stillv0.75January 20thNewsI had a long discussion with David Ellsworth yesterday and after aslightly heated debate we agreed that David would not be co-developingTiger with me, but rather start writing his own TI92-emulator whenhe gets time. There are several reasons for this, one being thatDavid is (as some of us know :) something of a perfectionist (whichis having a very postive impact on Fargo II I must say) and this makesit hard for him not to change the Tiger source to exactly the way hewants it - while I find it hard to accept things like this changingin my code.Anyway, David fixed a small bug in his v0.71 patch of Tiger whichmade the state-file loading fail. This is released as Tiger v0.72and can be downloaded here, both theX-Version and theSVGALib-version. This is still the only version thatsupports masked ROMS (and also autodetects ROM type). So maybe you will see a kick-ass TI92 emulator from David in the future, but in the meantime I hope you'll enjoy the new version of XTiger.Oh, and by the way, the problem with file-loading is appearantly somethingthat some people have encountered, and has nothing to do with Davids patch.Just E-MAIL bugreports PLEASE! All I get is hundreds of letters asking forROM-dumps.January 19th - UpdateBelive it or not, I've started coding on Tiger again. Since Davids v0.71 patchsomehow fucked up the state saving (and, according to Synth, file loading... butwhat does he know? ;) I've made a new version from v0.7 but using Davidschanges to the X11-interface to support 16 & 32bpp. A beta of this update toXTiger can be downloaded here... (Note: Only Linux/X11 Pentium version!)The news is that XTiger now has a beutiful scanned TI92 as a background, andall the buttons (except the Cursor-button, sorry :) are clickable! If you don't want this start tiger with "xtiger -back 0" and it behaves asbefore. Here is a screenshotMore updates will follow soon.September 8th - NewsAllthough I've taken a break after releasing v0.7, some things have happened that shouldbe mentioned:David Ellsworth has also started programming on Tiger and released a patch for v0.7 to v0.71.This should have been released already but I have had some trouble with the linux installationon my new PC. It will hopefully be available very soon. Main difference is that XTiger works inall colormodes and with contrast & grayscale. It also supports masked ROMS.MANY people have mailed and asked for romdumps or how to extract one from their TI92. Seethis page for more information (and NO I will not mail romdumps). For those asking me to release the sourcecode; I will... if not earlier than at least onthe last of September. I want to tidy it up first, but knowing how things like that usuallynever gets done I have set this deadline (but beware, the code will be messy if I'm forcedto relase it like it is :)August 19th - Update!v0.7 for Linux/SVGALIB, Linux/X11 & MS-DOS. Have no time to update this pageright now, but all files can be found at my ftp:ftp.nada.kth.se/home/md94-jmi/pub/tiger/(P.S Grayscale supported!)August 12th - Screenshots & InfoTiger now supports grayscale and I got an X11-version running. The newversion 0.7 will be released as soon as I fix a timerinterrupt-bug.In the meantime, enjoy the screenshots.v0.61 for Linux contains a bug - when you enter the debugger, you can notcontinue the emulation again. This is fixed now and will work in 0.7Agust 10th - Update!Tiger v0.61beta UPDATE available for Linux. No new documentation, just binary and CHANGES-fileLocal file sending (reading) boosted - A 109k backup loads in around 5 seconds on my P200 (NOTE: When loading Fargo backups it's supposed to say Transaction Failed) Progress bar for backup loading Commandline added on F10 key. Read CHANGESAugust 8th - Update!Version 0.6beta has been released for both DOS and Linux/SVGALIB.New features include:State and memory is saved when quittingFiles and backups can be loaded from diskSupport for both 1Mb & 2Mb ROMS128k or 256k memoryFargo support!Speed of timers can be configuredMore complete keyboard emulationGeneral bugfixesWhat is it?Tiger is an emulator for the TI92 - a powerful calculator from TexasInstruments. It's written entirely in C, using the 68k-emulation routinesfrom UAE, the fameous Amiga emulator. You will always need a real ROM-dumpfrom the TI92 to run it.CreditsThanks must go to:David Ellsworth - For his great work on Fargo and source of informationneeded to make the emulator.Bernd Schmidt - For making UAE fromwhich I isolated the 68kemulation core.Contacting me#IRC: SasqEMAIL: jonas@upright.seor md94-jmi@nada.kth.seThe last one I always read periodically, but the first one I readmuch more often if I'm at work. How to DownloadFrom now on, all versions are only downloadable via anonymous FTP at:ftp.nada.kth.se/home/md94-jmi/pub/tiger/Before downloading, first remember that it is Beta, which meansit propably has many bugs left. Also be aware of that I take no responsabilityif something bad should happen to you or your freinds when running thisemulator. The FutureThis page will hopefully be updated as more work is done on the emulator.Check the TODO in the emulator DOC-file for more info.
