WinVi     English Spanish German  Current version: 2.98 RC2 (Feb 26, 2008): fixed several bugs in RC1 (primarily concerning UTF-8 and UTF-16 character encoding), RC2 corrects an application crash on startup, see release notes. Attention! This preliminary release can be used on Windows 2000 and later versions only (i.e. Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Vista). WinVi is a free editor for MS Windows. The executable file is available in three variations: the new 32-bit beta release for Windows 2000, XP, Server 2003 and Vista, a 32-bit version for Windows 95 and higher, a 16-bit version for Windows 3.1 and Windows 3.11.  At the moment, I stopped WinVi development for Windows versions older thanWindows 2000, because I don't have an appropriate PC for this purpose.On the other hand, it is very laborious to port back the last Unicodeextensions.
