As another week of college commences so the Music Soc perseveres.
So 26 of us left for Achill Island on Friday. As far as costumes were concerned we came up trumps. Inspector Crane quickly became Inspector Cane and so the fun insued. Thanks to everyone who came along. They were a lovely bunch and really got into the spirit of it all. Also if any of you have any photos from achill please e-mail them to us. Niall wants to get a photo Gallery on the Website and these would be a nice way to start of the whole thing.
Hoodies have been ordered and I'll inform you as soon as they arrive. You'll be able to collect them from us in the Hub or something. Eitherways I'll let ye all know.
The Radio show is up and running. Flirt fm(101.3) on fridays at 2pm. If anyone is in a band or a solo artist and you want a chance to advertise a gig or a CD just e-mail and we'll get you on for an interview.
Unseen sounds is on again this week. We have 3 more acoustic acts. Conor Ward, (a local college boy), Paul Mooney (a MusicSoc favourite) and a Sligo man called Wayne O'Connor(????). Kicking off at 9pm in the back room of the college bar. Anyone who was at Achill it's one of hopefully many Achill reunions and for everyone else jus come along and listen to some good music, on this a most dismal of Mondays. It's a nice chance to relax.
Witless....ah witless. OK sign up sheets are going to be available from the 12th November from the socsbox. We can only have 15 bands Max this year due to the earliness of the Muscailt Festival(arts festival when we hold the Final). Therefore signing up does not guarntee entry. We'll hold a unbiased raffle at a comittee meeting to decide who plays, and you'll be informed as early as possible when your band is to play. Prize so far is still the 2/3 days of recording time in a local studio. Also due to a lack of funding we'll have to charge 20Euros a band who enters the competition( after the raffle) Please note, should we get the required funding there'll be no charge to enter. First heat will be the first Tuesday back afte the X Mass Hoilidays. So tell anyone you know in bands to sign up. So long as at least 1 member is in NUIG then they can sign up.
Open Mic is still running. Down stairs in the Cellar at 10pm on Wednesdays. Another chance for an Achill reunion perhaps????? OK so. I think thats everything. Any questions etc please feel free to ask via e-mail.

Another week in the world comences and in keeping with tradition, so does the Music soc week. Lets begin...
Hoodie order form are still avaliable from the Socs Box. Thats in the Hub close to the college bar for all you newbies. They are still 20 Euros and the possible designs are avaliable for viewing in the Socs Box. The order forms will be avaliable for another week or two so hurry up and get your name down, as we'll have to order them soon!!!
Achill....We're going to have to college money this week. We've managed to get it down to 35Euros per person. Anyone who signed up with me before will be getting a txt about this but I'm putting it here as well, just because I can. I'll be collecting money on Wednesday afternoon from 1:15 in the Hub. I'll only be able to stay till about 2:30 so make sure that you get over. For anyone who didn't get a chance to sign up before can still give me their names. As it stands the trip is full but people always drop out and I'll be making a waiting list of sorts so the earlier you get your name down the more likely you'll be to get on the trip. i'll be taking namesd on Wednesday as well.
Now, Tonight in the College bar we're hosting the first of hopefully many Unseen Sounds gig. This is a chance for the solo artists and acoustic set bands among us to get their voices heard. Tonight we have 3 acts... Padraig O'Flaithearta, Philip Morrow and headlined by Mr Tea and the Biscuits. It's a nice quite gig on a do nothing monday night. It starts at 9pm and will go on till closing. Come along and support college acts.
Don't forget about Open Mic Nites either. We're still running them downstairs in the cellar at 9:30pm on Wednesday nite. Massive turn out over the last few weeks and the cellar are very happy with us , so lets keep the good times rolling.
