HCI International Conference SeriesThe HCI International Conference was founded by Prof. Gavriel Salvendy (Purdue University, USA, and Tsinghua University, P.R. China) in 1984 with the 1st USA-Japan Conference on Human-Computer Interaction, which was held in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA, 18-20 August. HCI International, taking place every two years in a different part of the world each time, is held jointly with a number of affiliated conferences under one management and one registration.The conference objective is to provide an international forum for the dissemination and exchange of up-to-date scientific information on theoretical, generic and applied areas of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Universal Access, Engineering Psychology, Cognitive Ergonomics, Virtual and Mixed Reality, Internationalization, Design and Global Development, Online Communities, Social Computing, Augmented Cognition , Digital Human Modeling and Human Centered Design. This is accomplished through various modes of communication, such as plenary presentations, parallel sessions, poster sessions, tutorials, exhibitions, etc.Twelve (12) HCI International Conferences have been organized since 1984. HCI International 2007 was one of the biggest conferences ever organized in the fields related to HCI and Information Society Technologies, and attracted an unprecedented number of 2300 participants from 76 countries, representing the research and academic communities, as well as the industry.
