Qudon Foundation: Computing / Mathematics & Creative Think Tank
The Qudon Foundation is a think tank aimed at professionals in the fields of Computing / Mathematics and Creative (e.g. Law / Economics / Business) subject fields. Each division of the think tank allows experts in their field to easily release work relating to their interests. Members have full access to the tools of the site which will allow them to release news about their projects, upload files that can be downloaded by others and/or write and release documentation and reports to do with their projects.Members are free to work and release work on their own if they desire, work as a group of members on one larger project collectively. This is the key advantage of the group being for professionals and experts only - internal feedback and ideas from fully fledged Qudon Foundation members can always be relied on to be of a high quality. Our Computing Division includes work in the fields such as Software Engineering, Image Processing and Computer Vision, Networking, Advanced Programming, Robotics, Data Mining and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to name but a few.Other divisions have similar respective projects.

DSP for All - With new Texas Instruments ControlCARD
Posted by: phill on 06/10/2008 12:02 AM
(Read: 236)
It's been a LONG time coming, until now running a TI DSP in your hobby design has been restricted to those who had worked in the business. Otherwise the setup costs of ~$2000 to get going put the 100-150MIP processing punch of a DSP out of reach. Those who couldn't afford TI have often been drawn down the PIC or ARM processor paths. Well now TI are coming out punching at low cost development kits. The new 2808 ControlCARD Experimenter Kit, gives you a complete kit for $89, pinned out and ready for experimentation. The ControlCARD's themselves can be had for as little as $59!!And in an major step forward for DSP for all, this low cost kit also comes with a 32KB limited Free version of Code Composer IDE.Read more for a Link to TI's site and where to buy.

Exciting Times: ERIX Robot gets its own PCB
Posted by: phill on 08/27/2007 04:25 PM
(Read: 905)
The ERIX robot project needed a solution for interfacing the TI 2808 DSP controller to its sensors and motor controllers. It could have been done with a lot of jumper wires, but instead I'm being brave and I've produced my own PCB!Exciting stuff indeed.Check out the project page for more info.

Posted by: phill on 05/21/2007 03:04 AM
Due to a fault in the content management setup, the commenting system has been down for quite some time.... This went completely unnoticed to the site owners due to the fact the commenting options still appeared to be "there". However, its' back online so feel free to return to leaving your thoughts on articles, announcements, projects etc. etc.

ERIX Robot Update: Both Motors working + Content updates
Posted by: phill on 05/10/2007 12:46 AM
(Read: 1056)
Both motor drivers have now been trialled and are working nicely, each driving a seriously large SYNC-SLO Stepper Motor. The 'front' Infra Red range finder (one of ultimately 4) has been ordered, so some fun to be had calibrating this on the DSP soon.A potential donor for the core chassis has been found from somewhat unusual partsAnd an update on the long range sensors (Ultra Sonics) has been added to the sensor page...
