ASCII art is a means of creating pictures from text characters. It is frequently used in e-mail and NNTP postings, since it is much easier to transmit than image formats such as JPEG or GIF, and many users still find it difficult to translate an enclosure into a viewableimage. ASCII art, on the other hand, may be viewed by any newreader.
